Yemeni forces shelled Houthi missile launch platforms stationed at Taiz airport, alarabiya.net reported on Tuesday. The strikes targeted the rocket positions at the airport site in the southwestern governorate.
The reported operation was one of several actions described in the same period. According to the Saudi newspaper Sabaq, Yemeni forces also destroyed equipment and Houthi offices in the Dhubab and Al-Khawkhah areas, in what it described as part of a campaign it called the "kill box." A further report from the outlet Ajil said Yemeni warplanes struck Houthi positions and reinforcements on the Al-Ahkum front.
The strikes come amid heightened tension in Taiz. The deputy governor of the governorate told the newspaper Okaz that local authorities are prepared for any Houthi escalation, while the pan-Arab daily Asharq Al-Awsat reported that Taiz has been placed on alert to counter Houthi threats and prevent infiltrations.
